A dentist for University of Toronto students
If you are looking for a dentist near U of T, we are twelve minutes from the St. George campus on the same subway line, with evening and Saturday appointments that fit around class. We bill your U of T student dental plan directly, so most visits cost you nothing at the desk.
- UTSU and UTGSU plans billed directly
- Open until 8pm Tue and Thu, plus Saturdays
- English, Farsi, Greek and Romanian
What your U of T dental insurance covers
Full-time undergraduates at the University of Toronto St. George campus are covered by the UTSU plan, and graduate students by the UTGSU plan. Both U of T student dental plans run through GreenShield, both cover you from 1 September to 31 August, and both include up to $800 of dental work a year.
| Treatment | Covered | What that means for you |
| Extractions and basic oral surgery | 80% | Includes wisdom teeth and lab tests |
| Checkups and X-rays | 70% | Your routine exam and any imaging |
| Cleaning, scaling and polishing | 70% | The visit most students come in for |
| Gum treatment | 70% | Periodontal care if your gums bleed |
| Fillings and root canals | 60% | Plus anesthesia and denture upkeep |
Figures are from the 2025–26 UTSU plan booklet and apply up to the $800 annual dental maximum. Coverage under the UTGSU plan is broadly similar. We check your exact coverage before your appointment so you know the cost first. Percentages and maximums are set by your student union and GreenShield, not by us, and can change year to year.
Hours that work around a class schedule
Most dental offices close at five, which is no help when you have lectures all day. We stay open late twice a week and all day Saturday.
| Monday | 9am – 2pm |
| Tuesday | 12pm – 8pm |
| Wednesday | 9am – 2pm |
| Thursday | 12pm – 8pm |
| Friday | 9am – 2pm |
| Saturday | 9am – 2pm |
| Sunday | Closed |
Tuesday and Thursday evenings are the slots University of Toronto students book most. You can finish a late seminar and still make an appointment. Saturday mornings fill up fastest during term, so book a week ahead if you can.
We stay open through exam season
Campus dental clinics close during study days and exam periods. That is often exactly when jaw pain and grinding flare up. We are open our normal hours all year, reading week included.
What University of Toronto students come in for
Six things make up most of our student appointments. All of them are covered in part by your plan.
Checkup and cleaning
The visit to book if it has been a while. Exam, X-rays and a cleaning in one appointment, covered at 70%.
Fillings
Tooth-coloured fillings for cavities, chips and worn edges. Covered at 60% under your plan.
Toothache that will not wait
Same-day appointments when we have them. Call early in the day and we will fit you in if we can.
Wisdom teeth
Assessment and extraction where suitable, covered at 80%. Dr. Shahrbandi has over 20 years of surgical experience.
Jaw pain and grinding
Deadlines and stress show up in your jaw. We assess it and fit a custom night guard if you need one.
Whitening before graduation
Not covered by your plan, but a common ask before convocation photos. We will quote you first.
- Monday: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Tuesday: 12–8 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Thursday: 12–8 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed

Grinding your teeth through exam season?
Clenching and grinding go up under stress, and most people do it in their sleep without knowing. The signs are a sore jaw in the morning, headaches around the temples, sensitive teeth, or a roommate telling you they can hear it.
- We check your jaw, bite and wear patterns at the exam
- A custom night guard is made from impressions of your teeth
- It stops the damage before it turns into cracked teeth and crowns
- Far better fitting than anything sold at a pharmacy
Need an emergency dentist near U of T?
Dental pain does not wait for the end of term. If you are on campus and something has gone wrong, call us on (647) 930-5884 as early in the day as you can. We hold time for urgent cases and will see you the same day where we have space.
You are twelve minutes away on Line 2, and on Tuesday and Thursday we are open until 8pm, long after most clinics have closed.
Call us the same day for
- Severe or throbbing toothache
- A broken or knocked-out tooth
- Swelling in the gum, face or jaw
- A lost filling or crown
- Bleeding that will not stop
If you have facial swelling with difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to the nearest hospital emergency department rather than waiting for an appointment.
How billing works with your U of T student dental plan
You should not have to front the money and wait for a reimbursement. Here is how we handle it.
Bring your plan details
Your student number and your GreenShield card. Undergrads are group UTS, grad students UTG.
We check your coverage
Before treatment, so you know what your plan pays and what is left over, if anything.
We bill GreenShield directly
In most cases you pay only the portion your plan does not cover, right at the desk.
You keep the paperwork
If you have a second plan through a parent, we will tell you which one to claim first.
